first off i want to thank you for trying. as soon as i read insert cd i figured i was still going to have problem. i was given this computer as a gift off the shelf at best buy. it came preloaded with all kinds of stuff. it is a hp pavillion preloaded with xp media center 2005.i don't even know how to use the media center portion properly.it came loaded with microsoft office, word, works, all that microsoft stuff. stuff i don't need or use.i really only use it to read the internet and play on a couple of gamesites. i no longer have the microsoft programs even though there still on my programs menu.i try to open and it says a file is missing in error form. anyway i was unable to get past pchealth.inf portion. i did find the folder i386 just for kicks and it was empty. i also found the windows pchealth/helpctr/binaries file loaded up with all kinds of pc.health stuff but i have no idea what they are or do.i did open up the misconfig.exe file which open but i knew i wouldn't know what to do there and not to fool around.since the computer is working fine for my needs i will just let it go,unless you think it's effecting something critical.i had and access violation error on one of the gamesites after a download and i went to the help section to see if it could tell me anything, thats when i found out it wouldn't open. i don't think the access error is one my side. thanks again, sorry for the rambling.

You could borrow a disk from a friend.Make sure it is the same version of XP as yours, Media Center. For your particular repair, I think an XP Pro disk would do as well
